Great Aquarian Age, The Aquarian Mantras and the Awakening

Updated: Jul 5, 2023

ree

A Great Age, as mentioned above, is associated with the position of the March equinox. In 2023, the location of the Sun on the March equinox is in the constellation of Pisces but also on the border of Aquarius. So, we are slowly moving into a new age, from Pisces to Aquarius. It's an astrological age, which occurs because of a real motion of Earth known as precession. Precession causes the identity of the Pole Star to change over time. The cycle of precession lasts 25,800 years. One complete cycle of precession lasts slightly less than 26,000 years, meaning the spinning Earth goes through a little circular wobble about once every 25,000+ years. One cycle of Precession has been broken into 12 parts associated with 12 astrological ages, resulting in having 12 astrological ages corresponding to the 12 zodiac signs. The 12 zodiac signs each occupying 30 degrees of celestial longitude, and can all be seen along the ecliptic.

Based on which constellation the earth’s axis is wobbling towards (when the Earth’s rotation moves into a new zodiac sign around the spring equinox) determines which astrological age we’re in. These 12 astrological Age of lengths vary from 2,000 to 2,160 years, with some deviation because the earth’s rotations vary in length, as well as the disproportionate sizes of the constellations. Therefore, one complete cycle of 12 astrological ages is approximately (2000 to 2160) * 12 = 25000+ years. When one cycle of the 12 Astrological Ages is completed, meaning the Earth has completed one little circular wobble, another cycle of 12 Astrological Ages begins.

I have been noticing many of the changes I will mention to you below in my life. Sometimes it was a really subtle change and sometimes was very physical. All the changes are related to a change and raise of our consciousness. It is spiritual and in the same time physical event and it affects all of us in different scales depending on our own energetic frequencies.

The Transition from Pisces to Aquarian Age:

In the bygone era of Pisces, machines and hierarchies held dominion. However, the dawn of the Aquarian age brings a shift towards awareness, information, and energy as the guiding forces. The true power of this new epoch lies within your words—words consciously projected with intention. The mind undergoes a transformation in sensitivity, frequency, and functioning. Simultaneously, our perception of time, space, relationships, and relevance undergoes a metamorphosis.

Today, accessing information has become incredibly convenient, unlike the challenges of the Piscean Age, especially when it came to obtaining occult knowledge. In the past, only a select few had the privilege of venturing to far-off sacred places like Tibet. Now, information flows freely and abundantly, but the key lies in our ability to transform that information into wisdom. True value lies in embodying self-knowledge and gaining experiential insights. The reliance on external authorities gives way to balanced inner self-reliance and humility. While information is readily available, it is essential to internalize and embody it.

I vividly recall the moment when this transformative process began for me around 2018. The transition unfolded gradually, but a definitive turning point stands out in my memory. Particularly within my work environment, I could no longer tolerate being in a submissive and subordinate position. It did not imply that I sought to become the "boss," but rather, I could no longer abide by orders that contradicted my moral compass and personal beliefs. Internally, I felt a powerful resistance, urging me to let go and embark on my own journey. Consequently, I resigned from a well-paying job, relinquishing security, to embark on a path of self-discovery and creation. I shed everything and embraced the path of my heart, where I discovered hidden treasures behind all the initial resistance. Throughout this intense shift between ages, my primary goal remains to nurture mental, emotional, and physical flexibility and cultivate a new relationship with intuition, emotion, and instinct. In an age brimming with easily accessible information, knowledge alone is insufficient. We must cultivate wisdom and learn to adapt our learning parameters to the evolving mind. My previous life and self were completely wiped away, as if someone had intentionally burned all bridges behind me. Yet, as I made the choice to take the leap, I felt a gentle force akin to angel wings carrying me forward. I won't deny that I faced challenges along the way, but within that roughness, I discovered profound softness—an immensely powerful and enriching experience.

Have you noticed how time seems to simultaneously pass more quickly and slower? It feels as if we accomplish and witness an abundance of events within a compressed span. It's akin to experiencing three days in one, but in a continuous flow. Time as we once understood it has shifted as we enter a different reality. Our parents and grandparents experienced a vastly dissimilar existence compared to the one we now inhabit in this new age. What they accomplished in a lifetime, we achieve within a year. Time is no longer confined to three dimensions; it has become non-existent, transcending past, present, and future. The only reality that prevails is the present moment. Everything transpires at an accelerated pace, and as we become more present, each moment stretches, expanding in its significance. This realisation gradually dawns upon individuals as they progress on their inner journeys.

The changes sweeping across all aspects of life affect each one of us personally. We can no longer engage in destructive behaviours without consequences. Concealment has become nearly impossible as everything is laid bare for scrutiny and analysis. In these times of age transition, it becomes imperative for us to cultivate a heightened self-awareness regarding our actions and take responsibility for their consequences.

In the midst of this profound transition into the Aquarian Age, we find ourselves personally affected by the sweeping changes that encompass all aspects of life. Destructive behaviors can no longer go unnoticed, as everything is now laid bare for all to see and scrutinize. The era of hiding and concealing is dissipating, replaced by a new paradigm of transparency and accountability. In this time of age transition, it becomes crucial for us to cultivate inner self-awareness, taking responsibility for our actions and acknowledging their consequences.

However, amidst the overload of information and the intensity of life in this new age, maintaining control over our minds has become a formidable challenge. The struggle to keep up with the constant flow of information and the pressure of societal and personal demands leaves us feeling overwhelmed. It feels as though the control we once had is slipping away, crossing the boundaries of our own limitations. The new Aquarian Age presents us with novel challenges, including viral, psychological, and spiritual crises. Symptoms such as depression, fatigue, insomnia, lack of focus, and decision-making difficulties emerge as the mind and body succumb to exhaustion. Even the most competent and productive individuals find themselves losing their sense of balance under the weight of information overload, the distortion of time perception, and the increasing complexities of our interconnected world.

As electronic technology continues to advance, it brings with it a deluge of choices, information, contacts, and instant messaging, further amplifying the complexity we face. This constant barrage pushes us beyond the confines of our old identities, challenging us to adapt and evolve. However, in the midst of this inundation, we must recognize that what we truly need is not more choices or information, but an elevated capacity to make choices and the wisdom to utilize the abundance of information. We don't require another religion, but rather the experience of lifestyles that cultivate spiritual fitness, enabling us to act with authenticity and integrity in our lives.

In this context, Kundalini Yoga emerges as a powerful tool to navigate the Aquarian Age. Many individuals may find immense benefit in embracing Kundalini Yoga as we traverse this era of change. With its vast repertoire of thousands of kriyas and meditations, Kundalini Yoga is specifically designed to balance the brain, strengthen the nervous system, and optimise human capacity. Through daily practice, Kundalini yogis can discover the resources they need to not only meet the demands of our rapidly changing world but also to embark on their own healing journeys and serve their communities.

Recognising the need for new guiding principles suited to the Aquarian Age, Kundalini Yoga offers the Five Sutras as words to live by. These sutras form the philosophical foundation of the Kundalini practice and are accompanied by mantras and meditations. Each sutra carries its own profound meaning, guiding practitioners on their spiritual path. Below, you will find commentary for each sutra along with instructions for the associated mantra and meditation, providing a roadmap for Kundalini Yogis as we embrace the transformative energies of the Aquarian Age.

The Five Sutras of the Aquarian Age

  1. Recognize that the other person is you.

  2. There is a way through every block.

  3. When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.

  4. Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.

  5. Vibrate the Cosmos. The Cosmos shall clear the path.

The 1st Sutra: Recognize that the Other Person is You

This sutra has three dimensions: I, You, and Thou. The idea is summed up in the mantra, Creator and Creation are One. Kundalini Yoga is a nondual yogic path which recognizes a Supreme Oneness from which we emerge. But as Oneness expresses itself, it takes the form of polarities.

A basic polarity would be you versus others, or the perception that there is a separate you versus me. While of course it is true that you and I exist, separate in body, experience, and perception, it is also true that we stem from the same source.

As we approach that still point, called shuniya, in meditation or prayer, we recognize that at the innermost, subatomic level we are connected to all that surrounds us. Without stillness and depth in our heart, we may seem opposed or unrelated. But as we attune to the depth within our own consciousness (Humee Hum), listen to the depth in the other (Tumee Tum), and place both sensitivities before the Infinite (Wahe Guru), we recognize our interconnection.

“Irrespective of the external form, there is a divine flame inside everyone. Revering that, our conduct should be always infused with forgiveness.” -Vinoba Bhave

Recognize that the other person is you is the act of recognizing that another person is your own kind. The virtue implies a universal recognition, knowing that everyone and everything is a part of you. Thus we say, “If you can’t see God in all, you can’t see God at all.” In an age of increasing polarization, this unconditional and loving recognition could prove revolutionary.

Mantra: I am thine in mine, myself, wha-hay guroo. Humee hum tumee tum, wha-hay guroo.

The 2nd Sutra: There is a Way through Every Block

At first glance, this sutra is self-explanatory and easy to apply to a real-world, physical challenge. But it also applies to mental blocks, shaped by our conditioning and perceived limitations. The guiding principle is that by connecting to the Infinite, we realign with the flow of Creation. This inevitably clears the blocks, although not necessarily in the way we imagine!

Instead of deciding to hustle or struggle, we can align our centers so that we are carried and arranged by the force of Creation itself.

While the yoga, breath, and meditation practices are tools to foster that connection, we’ve surely all had the experience of just feeling stuck—like there’s nothing you can do to get out of it. For the times when nothing else seems to be working, we were given this mantra.

Make a virtuous, sublime resolve, set the time frame, and begin to work. There is a way through every block!

Mantra: Aad such, jugaad such, haibhay such, Naanak hosee bhay such

The 4th Sutra: Understand through Compassion or You will Misunderstand the Times

Despite the human temptation to judge, blame, or to set expectations, the 4th sutra calls for us to relate unconditionally through the loving lens of the heart.

This is not an elementary or fickle suggestion. The sutra stems from ancient wisdom that is only now beginning to be understood by western science. The philosophy is that of nondualism or tantric schools of thought, which recognize our inextricable connection with what is.

The path of the heart is the way of love, and the practice of relating to yourself in the other. Compassion is the embodiment of power, truth, and grace. Compassion imparts the strength to endure great suffering. The most beautiful thing that makes us human may be our capacity for compassion. In a world rife with violence, the only antidote is compassion.

Mantra:

Rakhay rakhanhaar aap ubaariun

Gur kee pairee paa-eh kaaj savaariun

Hoaa aap dayaal manho na visaariun

Saadh janaa kai sung bhavjal taariun

Saakat nindak dusht khin maa-eh bidaariun

Tis saahib kee tayk naanak manai maa-eh

Jis simrat sukh ho-eh sagalay dookh jaa-eh

The 5th Sutra: Vibrate the Cosmos. The Cosmos shall clear the path

The 5th Sutra speaks to the power of mantra, chanting, and prayer. It speaks to the ability of the Naad, or sound current, to pierce through perceived barriers in mind and body. It embodies the wisdom of nadi as flow and reminds us that our bodies are like instruments that can be tuned and harmonized. The universe is a sea of vibrating energy, and we are of that nature.

As we shift frequencies, the entire structure of our experience changes. Thus we say “the cosmos shall clear the path.” The dictum of this sutra is to chant. As we shift our frequency, we change our emotional response to situations and environments, which allows us to reorient and center ourselves at the moment. It also sparks intuition.

The 5th Sutra is also a reminder to be aware of our words and tone of voice! With our words, we create. It is wise to avoid venting frustration, gossip, or bad-mouthing someone, including yourself. Make a habit not to complain. Begin to choose your words consciously, and notice how much energy and spirit you have. Observe how others change around you, and how quickly you get things done!

The Aquarian Age Mantras in Kundalini Yoga

ree

Initially, I must admit that I found the practice of chanting mantras somewhat peculiar until I delved deeper into its purpose. Chanting mantras serves a dual function: it not only helps to sharpen the mind and enhance brain oxygenation (leaving you with a clear-headed and tranquil sensation afterward), but it also establishes a profound connection with the Divine. As we find ourselves amidst the current energetic shift accompanying the dawning of the Aquarian Age, mantras offer an immensely powerful means of attuning ourselves to the present moment of transformative change. This article aims to introduce the Aquarian Mantras, shed light on their significance, and elucidate their practice. But what exactly are mantras? In essence, mantras are carefully chosen words or phrases that invoke specific frequencies for healing and focus on particular subjects. For instance, each chakra possesses its own unique mantra, often referred to as Bija mantras, which, when chanted, immerse us in the energy center we seek to concentrate on. The Aquarian Mantras follow a similar principle, as they are chanted using a blend of Punjabi, English, and Sanskrit. Written in Gurmukhi script, which is employed by Sikhs to transcribe Punjabi, these mantras carry a distinct significance. These mantras form one part of the comprehensive Aquarian Sadhana, a spiritual practice that traditionally spans an uninterrupted 2 ½ hours and commences before sunrise. Each mantra serves a specific purpose and holds profound meaning, chanted for a designated duration to awaken the dormant Kundalini energy within us.

1. The Morning Call

Also known as the Adi Shakti Mantra, this mantra is an ashtang mantra – done in a rhythm of eight. It’s chanted for 7 minutes without musical accompaniment. Associated with transition and The Golden Chain, this mantra awakens spiritual energy and calms the mind. At Kundalini University, we understand the Golden Chain as the spiritual connection every yogi has to all the teachers who have come before you.

During the Adi Shakti Mantra, one applies the throat lock to channel Kundalini energy upwards, connecting one’s soul with the Universal Soul.

Ek Ong Kaar

Sat Nam

Siri Wahe Guru

One Creator created this Creation

Truth is Their Name

Great beyond description is His Infinite Wisdom

2. Waah Yantee

The Waah Yantee mantra is also chanted for 7 minutes. It strengthens our connection to the infinite self beyond the physical world and unleashes our intuition.

Waah Yantee

Kar Yantee

Jag Dut Patee

Aadak It Waahaa

Brahmaadeh Tresha Guru

Great Macro-self

Creative Self

All that is creative through time

All that is the Great One

Three aspects of God: Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh

That is Wahe Guru

3. Mul Mantra

These words were taken from Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. By chanting the Mul Mantra, one expands creativity and optimism, while letting go of pain and sorrow. It is also chanted for 7 minutes.

Sat Nam

Kartaa Purkh

Nirbhao

4. Sat Siri Siri Akal

Chanting this mantra one acknowledges that we are all timeless, deathless beings allowing ourselves to let go of fear. It is chanted for 7 minutes.

Sat Siri, Siri Akaal

Siri Akaal, Mahaa Akaal

Mahaa Akaal, Sat Naam

Akaal Moorat, Wahe Guru

Great Truth, Great Undying

Great Undying, Great Deathless

Great Deathless, Truth is God’s Name

5. Rakhay Rakhanhaar

According to Yogi Bhajan, this mantra is “for protection against all negative forces, both inner and outer, which move against one’s walk on the path of destiny. It cuts like a sword through every opposing vibration, thought, word and action.” It is chanted for 7 minutes.

Rakhay rakhanahaar aap ubaariaun,

Gur kee pairee paa-eh kaaj savaariun,

hoaa aap dayaal manaho na visaariun,

saadh janaa kai sung bhavajal taariun,

saakat nindak dusht khin maa-eh bidaariun,

tis saahib kee tyk Naanak manai maa-eh,

Jis simrat sukh ho-eh sagalay dookh jaa-eh

God is looking out for us, gives us the light, and takes care of our affairs.

God is merciful, and never forgets us. God guides us, giving us good people to help us.

God does not allow hurt to come to us. I take comfort in the thought of God.

When I remember God, I feel peaceful and happy and all my pain departs.

6. Wahe guru Wahejio

For this mantra, start seated in Virasana, hero pose. Then, sit on your left heel and place your right foot flat on the ground with your right knee upright. Bring your hands into prayer pose. This mantra initiates the state of bliss or ecstasy. It is chanted for 22 minutes. It’s definitely challenging to maintain this seated posture for the length of the mantra – just do your best! Adjust your seat as needed to another seated position that allows you to breathe deeply as you chant.

Wahe Guru Wahe Guru Wahe Guru Wahe Jio

Indescribably great is His Infinite, Ultimate Wisdom

7. Guru Ram Das

The words Guru Guru Wahe Guru project the mind to the Infinite while Guru Ram Das Guru calls to the wisdom that serves infinite being.

With the Guru Ram Das chant praise is given to Guru Ram Das. It is one of humility opening our hearts to effortlessly radiate universal love. It is chanted for 5 minutes.

Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru

Teacher, Wonderous Teacher, God, Teacher Ram Das Remover of Darkness

8. Long Time Sun

It so happens that the closing song is of Scottish origin. Introduced to Yogi Bhajan in the US, it became the closing prayer to all of his Kundalini Yoga classes. It is often used to conclude traditional Kundalini classes, as well as the Aquarian Sadhana.

May the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you,

and the pure light within you, guide your way on.

Let s Chant Together!
